Fall is officially here in Vancouver! The rain is falling, the leaves are turning, and sweaters and scarves are making their way out the closet. It is easy to fall off the wagon and get out of routine over the summer holidays (hello bbqs and patio drinks!). Fall is the perfect time to start fresh and get back into the swing of things.
Here are a couple of tips to get your eating and nutrition back on track after summer holidays:
Make small changes: Overhauling your diet completely can be overwhelming. Pick a few things that are easy to do and add as you go. Maybe this means having warm lemon water in the morning to help detoxify your liver or adding more greens to your meals.
Hydrate: Make sure you are getting in enough pure, clean water each day. Spice it up by adding cucumber, mint or berries for a refreshing taste. You can also include detoxifying herbal teas into your day such as dandelion root, fennel or milk thistle.
Add detoxifying foods to your meals: Turmeric, cinnamon, coconut oil, garlic, leafy greens and berries are all excellent sources of antioxidants that help cleanse and nourish your body.
Be prepared: Have a few staples on hand such as quinoa or brown rice, a good quality protein and prepared veggies so it is easy to throw a meal together in a pinch.
