As we jump from summer to autumn, our skin is working hard to accommodate to the changing weather. Your summer glow doesn’t have to leave with the season; there is a solution to maintaining healthy and glowing skin all year round. The answer to that is “vitamin facial”.
To maintain a healthy glow, first we have to understand what is causing our skin to become dull and lackluster.
Internal factors: As we age, we start to lose collagen and hyaluronic acid in our body. Both of these give our skin plumpness and buoyancy. Since hyaluronic acid is hydrophilic, it also has an incredible ability to retain water and provide hydration and nourishment to our skin. Unfortunately, as stated by Teoxane (2016), by age 40 and 50, we start to lose up to 50% of our hyaluronic acid, which leads to parched and dull skin.
External factors: In 1950, Dr. Denham Harman proposed the free radical theory of aging. Essentially our environment contains “free radicals” which can alter, mutate and age our cells. With continuous exposure of free radicals, our skin suffers and ages prematurely. Unfortunately, free radicals are everywhere and we can’t hide from it, so the best way to combat it is through neutralizing free radicals with antioxidants, minerals and vitamins.
Solution: Vitamin facial is a skincare treatment that can promote collagen growth, replenish hyaluronic acid stores, as well as combat free radical damage. The treatment involves using a small, comfortable needle to deliver tiny injections of hyaluronic acid filler over the face. The filler contains hyaluronic acid, but it also has antioxidants, minerals and vitamins to help combat radical stressors. Some may choose to use topical skin care that contain similar ingredients as a vitamin facial, however it will not be nearly as effective because it will only nourish the outer layer of the skin. Furthermore, the tiny injections cause a healthy stimulation to our skin to promote collagen formation. Overall, this is an amazing treatment to combat factors that lead to premature aging; it is also a simple treatment that can help nourish skin to a healthy glow.
